I awoke from surgery and there you were
Sitting alone by my beside, smiling, and not saying a word
Although groggy I couldn't help myself, I had to smile in return
You said you'd been watching me sleep, and my vitals were good
I think I forgot to tell you that day, how special your kindness caused me to feel

I feel so very lucky that you and I could spend
Last Thursday night at the Sweet Tomato nursing fund-raising event
We walked through the line putting vegetables on our plates, but we both couldn't wait
To get started with the brownie and ice cream sundae buffet
You were so happy each time one of your students caught your eye
I watched and listened with amazement as you could say
Something special about each one as they passed our way
I think I forgot to tell you that night, you are the kind of professor that every student must want

Throughout my life I will always hold dear
Your sweet and loving example of how life should be lived
I remember you told me that someone nicknamed you "bubbles"
I am one of luckiest people in the world
I experienced first hand your kindness, love, smiles, and bubbly cheer
I will always strive to carry on your bubbly ways

I will love and hold you near to my heart always,
Your loving friend,
Donna
